ANNUAL FUND

The Annual Fund is a fund where money donations are collected and used to purchase items for the school that are beyond the regular budget. Over the last two years the Annual Fund has been very successful in providing technology and science equipment for students to use.

For the 2009‐2010 school year, we have identified these four needs:

Interactive Whiteboards

They allow teachers to save what they have written or drawn and send it to students' computers and to interact with the information on the screen with their finger or a special electronic "marker". Math and science students can graph and display problems that are difficult to represent using ordinary software programs.

Library Books

In keeping with our international character, the library needs to purchase more non‐English books. Also, over the past two years, the secondary division (grades 6‐12) has grown larger than the elementary, but the number of books the library has does not reflect that trend. There are limited books available for our middle school and high school students, especially novels. We would also like to purchase an on‐line electronic resource service. This will reduce the need for purchasing large encyclopedias and other expensive books.

Sound System

We have a wonderful new 200 seat auditorium with no sound system. We would like to be able to purchase a sound system that would facilitate the needs of parent meetings, student assemblies, concerts, plays, and seminars.

Computers for Classrooms

In the elementary, we have many computers that are older than five years and have limited use. We would like to purchase replacement computers that would be used in the individual classrooms. Research has shown that classroom computers facilitate greater achievement through greater student motivation, encouraging collaboration and problem‐solving skills, increasing responsibility and independence, and offering resources and experiences that books are not able to offer.

Please donate and become a part of creating an even better school for our students. You may place money in an envelope and label it, "Annual Fund" and give it to the School or Finance Office.
